Eddie and Sherry Richards met in January, 1984, when Sherry attended a Hinson’s concert, hosted by a local group called “The Nippers”. While Sherry, who was a vocalist and musician with her family, had known “The Nippers” for some time, she had never met Eddie who was the group’s new tenor singer. After noticing that Eddie was dressed to match the other members of the group, she asked who he was. When being introduced to Sherry, Eddie stuck out his hand to shake and said in his usual charming manner, “Hi, are you married?” Sherry, being only 17 at the time, said, “No.” Eddie continued saying, “Would you like to be?” And as the story would go, they married 8 months later and lived happily ever after.
Over their 20 plus years of marriage, Eddie and Sherry have been members of numerous groups including The Nipper, The Jack Saul Singers, The Sounds of Victory, The Saul’s and Southern Gold. Most recently, Sherry has traveled and filled in with nationally acclaimed artist, “The Hoppers”.
The Richards have shared the stage with some of gospel music’s greatest icons including The Hinsons, The Hoppers, Karen Peck and New River, The Greenes, Jeff & Sheri Easter, the Isaacs, and The Dixie Melody Boys and more.
In addition to their singing and playing talents, the two also write much of the music they performed. They are excited to stand before you and share the gospel of Christ through song and testimony.
